ABSTRACT

Eco fiction is a branch of literature which study the nature and nature oriented or environment oriented which is nonhuman things works of the fiction. It represent encompasses the human impact on nature. The eco fiction which mainly deals with animal, nature, birds’ metamorphoses and pastoral. It direct concern with the environmental issues in literature.Ecocriticism is mainly deals with representation of nature and environmental related things in literature. It combines the interconnection between human and nature represented in literature. This term first used in 1990 with the interdisciplinary authors while representing ecology and Eco fiction in literature. This is the combination of study ecology and natural science in interdisciplinary study in literature. The chief area of study ecocriticism is high light the nature and pastoral quality of literature whereas it also deals the animal, bird and non-human things in nature. Literature and nature have its close connection to each other so many genre of literature glorifies the nature. Nature is background for the many literary forms which increase the effect of the story. Therefore ecology and ecocriticism are the core branch to study different forms of literature. So this study chiefly important in the form of literature and environmental science. The present research discusses the role of nature in literature with special reference to selected novels of Anita Nair.
