ABSTRACT

This study aims to determine the chemical composition of khat (Catha edulis Forsk) leaves extract using Gas Chromatography -Mass Spectrometer analysis (GC-MS). The results showed that there are 16 specific plant chemical compounds in the khat (Catha edulis  Forsk) leaf extract. The main bioactive compounds in extracting khat (Catha edulis) leaves were Hexadecanoic Acid, Methyl Ester, Pentadecanoic Acid, 14-methyl-, methyl ester, Pentadecanoic Acid, methyl ester (23.28%), 9,12,15O-ctadecatrienoic, methyl ester, (Z, Z, Z)-, 9,12,15-Octadecatrienoic, (Z, Z, Z)- (18.07%) and n-Hexadecanoic acid, Pentadecanoic acid, 1-(+)- ascorbic acid 2,6- dexadecanoate (15.25%).
