Bananapeel As Coagulants For Waste Watertreatment

ABSTRACT

Ever increasing population has imposed heavy load on natural water bodies. The increasing demand for water has resulted in contamination of fresh water from various industrial activities. Although there is various technologies and chemicals methods to do water treatment in developing countries, but such methods are expensive and time consuming. Natural absorbent like banana peels may be used to reduce such expensive treatment processes and are also eco-friendly and easily available. With this method it also gives certain benefits to farmers and local people to grow their income and it is also low cost and sustainable methods. The present paper discusses about the various ways in which bananapeel may be utilized for treatment of municipal waste water and the efficiency of banapeel in removal of various pollutants like turbidity, biochemical oxygen demand and heavy metals.
