ABSTRACT
The research paper highlights the way black people have been dehumanized and marginalized under slavery by their white masters. They have been tortured and oppressed under draconian laws and policies. It has left indelible scars on their psyches. Colson Whitehead in his Novel The Underground Railroad highlightsthe oppression and inhuman acts the blacks have confronted under their white masters who demolished their identity. These people have been incarcerated under vicious laws. The blacks have been discriminated on the basis of their skin colour and genealogy. This has haunted their psyches. Their black identity is distorted under the slavery by their white masters. These people have been disremembered and unaccounted in the history as well. There were no records about these people as there records have been destroyed by their white masters. The paper will study the impact of slavery and its repercussions on black people.
