Adolescent Girl: Pathetic Plight Persists

ABSTRACT

The basket of services for health of all women, with special focus on the adolescent girls is aimed for providing affordable and accessible heath services, to advance the agenda of universal coverage in the country.  This will surely contribute to meet the targets set under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to which India is committed.  The most recent research too supports the claim that the investment in the health of women and adolescent girls besides saving lives and preventing avoidable tragedies, secures high social and economic returns for the country.  The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has many interventions and initiatives focused on the health of women in general and for adolescent girls in particular.
