ABSTRACT

In this paper the researcher explore the legacy of mural paintings of mahalingeshwara math located in Karnataka. Man before having the language awareness started expressing his feelings and thoughts through his art by drawing and painting on the walls. Wherever he lived but not permanently, because he was not settled in his area of interest for communication The aim of this paper is to carry out a organic piece of research using primary sources which include the techniques of ancient murals, mythological connections, color specifications along with cross linking literature during medieval period. The sampling has been done based on Ajanta Ellora, Badami and Ihole caves using specific references of Stone Age. This research will highlight the contribution, depiction and techniques used for illustrating beauty of Deccan murals.
