ABSTRACT
South Asian countries are continuously looking for renewable and inexhaustible sources of energy such as solar, hydro, wind and biomass. The energy sector of these economies is known as the backbone of industrialization and market expansion in the economies. A vast literature is available on the nexus between food and water, energy and food, urbanization and energy and real estate and energy. But the research studies have not given attention to the nexus between energy, urbanization and population. Thus, the study is based on the objective of assessing the functioning of this nexus in South Asian countries. This qualitative study is based on the reviews of researchers in their studies related to energy consumption, energy utilization, urbanization, population dynamics, nexus between food and energy, nexus between poverty and energy, nexus between urbanization and energy in the different economies of the world. The results of the study conclude that there exists a connection between population dynamics, energy utilization and urbanization in the South Asian countries. But the analysis using improved quantitative tools would make it easy to measure the impact of urbanization on land use and energy consumption with the growing population in future research and it would also be easy to measure its foreseen and unforeseen implications using these tools.
