ABSTRACT

The voluntary compliance of social and ecological responsibility of business is referred to as corporate social responsibility. This area had already generated interest from academicians and practitioners worldwide but the underlying factors that encourage the interest of CSR practices to be adopted by companies were not explored from perspective of a developing country like India. As CSR entails concept whereby companies decide to voluntarily contribute to a better society and clean environment therefore to what extent the organizations are achieving it were not explored yet. Through this study the objective of whether CSR has positive and negative impact on society will be studied through initiatives adopted by selected 20 companies. The research had been an exploratory study by analyzing the available literature of selected companies and present majority of positive findings from initiatives studied.
