Transcendentalism and Existentialism: An Analytical Study of John Krakauer’s Into the Wild

ABSTRACT

Into the wild is a story of a young boy who abandons his possession and lives a hitchhiking life. Over the time he meets people and spent time sharing his story. His road trip ended on Alaska trail and died due to starvation. In this paper, Transcendentalism theory is applied, the theory shares the idea about people gives their best when they are self-reliant and independent. And the other theory existentialism is about finding self and analyzing the meaning of life.The paper aims to awaken the people who devotes their activity into materialistic than the real meaning of life, they fanaticize life rather than experiencing.
