Images Of Women In African-American And Marathi Dalit Literature

ABSTRACT

It has the close similarity between the blacks in America and Dalits in India. Black American’s arrival to the shores of America in chains which was vastly different from the white races who came to America in search of freedom and prosperity. The new promise and hopes shuttered after arrival in the Promised Land. They targeted to live in the hands of white masters as slaves. Their rich black heritage forced into slavery and poverty, all that was left to the black man was his African soul, and even this was taken away as white culture slowly impinged on him. The African connection was irrevocably broken. Understandably curious about the land of his origins he was in dilemma living in the hands of white society.
