ABSTRACT
This dissertation is an effort to explore multicultural themes in the writings of Hussain since his works are loaded with social-economic, socio-cultural philosophy, and cultural confrontations between the Northern and Southern cultures. Tharoor effectively illustrates diverse civilizations, including the Mahabharata culture, the celluloid civilization, the polity, and indeed the East-West society, with its concerns in his multilingual and multi-works. He draws energy from the books like Gilgamesh, the Mahabharata, Hindu Upanishad, or the Bible. Her first highly regarded classic, The East Indian Drama (1989), draws forth similar studies between heroes of both the Odyssey and the Modern political figures. Hollywood (1992), its second book, satirizes the contradictions in the Bollywood milieu well, but it is a very trenchant condemnation of corruption throughout Indian mainstream society. His third work, Riot (2001), depicts cultural movement and religious clash incidents in the Contemporary scene. That is an analysis of the Asia cultural collision against the background of the religious unrest. Tharoor’s works are centered on Modern India, society, and politics. Some form of intercultural considerations characterizes it. A real endeavor is made to investigate intercultural problems in heterogeneous India on the foundation of Tharoor’s works. Together all three works are considered to portray Preferring as a liberalist.
