ABSTRACT

Corporate Social Responsibility refers to the voluntary activities undertaken by an organization to operate in a social, economic and environmentally sustainable manner. The objectives of the present are to study corporate social responsibility activities done by the public and private sector banks in India. Banking sector plays a vital role for the development of the nation. There are several activities prescribed to do under CSR. Any company falls under the given criteria, they have to formed CSR committee immediately which can be looked out all the matters related to companies CSR. The present study is based on secondary data and it is collected from various sources available online. The study data is analyzed with the help of t-test. Five public sector banks and five private sector banks have been selected as the sample for this study. Present research paper covers the time period from 2014-15 to 2018-19. Researcher has been prepared various tables to see the CSR performance done by the selected sample banks. It is found that there is no difference in pattern of CSR spending of public and private sector banks of India. It is also suggested that public banks have to work more efficiently.
