Rabindranath
Tagore is a multifaceted writer who got noble prize in 1913. Nationalism is
critiqued by him in his works, which has a point in itself. He cites examples
from the west while elaborating the notion of nation and nationalism. He
believes not in the rigidity but in flexibility. He is in favour of diversity
of cultures, ethnicity and religion. The present paper focuses his Gora,
Nationalism, Crisis in Civilization, The Home and The World
and Four Chapters. The paper throws sufficient light on how the world
may go peacefully and harmoniously, if people adhere to Tagorian ideals of
nation and nationalism.
