ABSTRACT

Rabindranath Tagore is a multifaceted writer who got noble prize in 1913. Nationalism is critiqued by him in his works, which has a point in itself. He cites examples from the west while elaborating the notion of nation and nationalism. He believes not in the rigidity but in flexibility. He is in favour of diversity of cultures, ethnicity and religion. The present paper focuses his Gora, Nationalism, Crisis in Civilization, The Home and The World and Four Chapters. The paper throws sufficient light on how the world may go peacefully and harmoniously, if people adhere to Tagorian ideals of nation and nationalism.
