ABSTRACT

Students are mostly bombarded with reading materials in any reading courses they take. Thus, they either find reading courses boring or unnecessary, though it is a course prescribed in their curriculum for the purpose of making them good at reading comprehension skill and it provides them with various reading strategies. Still they somehow find it not interesting. The other problem is with the reading text books which are not for classes with multi-level students as one can see that each reading textbook is for a specific level such as beginner, pre-intermediate, intermediate, and advanced. Whatever book is chosen, it would affect the diversity of proficiency level of the student; for instance, advanced level students find a reading book which is for intermediate level boring, and they get distracted because they find it easy and boring for them. In the same way, a reading book which is for advanced level students may not work for intermediate or beginner students of the same class; they will find it difficult and will soon get frustrated with what they are reading. Similarly, Mikeladze points out this issue and asserts that in classes, where intensive reading is given to the students, all the students should read the same text which is problematic especially if there is diversity in level of the students. Moreover, it may avert the students from becoming fluent in reading because of its difficulty.
