ABSTRACT

Banks are considered an integral part of any economy for promoting financial growth and stability. With the introduction of multinational private sector banks, the banking sector is facing rigid competition and a longing to enhance their service quality in order to attain a competitive edge among their customers and competitors. The sector plays an efficient role in the economic development of a country. The banking sector is a pillar for any strong national economy. Private sector banks in India play an important role in the overall financial sector reforms. The objective of this study is to analyze and study the financial performance of private banks before Covid Pandemic. This study is based on secondary data that has been collected from annual reports of the respective banks and the Reserve Bank of India website for the period of ten years (2011-2020). Ratios, percentages, charts, and graphs are used to analyze the data of these banks. Our study is aimed at comparing the performance of private sector banks, namely-HDFC, ICICI, Axis Bank, and Kotak Mahindra bank. The tool used in this study is the CAMEL method for measuring the financial performance of these banks.
