Rural Women Engaged Indifferent Agriculture Stream in District Kurukshetra Haryana: Present Status and Problem

ABSTRACT
The present investigation is an attempt to find out the present status and problems of female agricultural labourers in rural Haryana. “The present study was conducted in Ladwa, Babain, Shahabad three blocks of district Kurukshetra Haryana state. A sample of 90 rural farm women labourers in the age group of 20 to 45 years. A sample of women labourers was selected who were involved in agriculture work apart from working in the household works. A thorough study has been done by the investigator. Three villages were selected at random from each block, 30 women from each village. The survey was done with interview method and observation method. In this study, only those respondents were included in the purposive sampling method, who wanted to participate voluntarily. In this study investigator created 3 groups to complete the survey in each group, there were 30 women. Investigators found 70.2% percent engaged in agriculture work.
The data collected was analyzed by using simple mean and percentage. The analysis revealed that the participation of female labour was found to be more in activities such as storage, manual harvesting, picking of vegetables, plucking of flower, farming of potato, peeling of sugarcane, animal dung collection and its disposal, grain drying, wheat cutting, paddy transplanting and paddy harvesting, cleaning, weeding was found be women engaged in high number. In all activities women workers, have to face problems like back pain, headache, body muscle cramps, low wages, hard work, the double burden of family upbringing.
