ABSTRACT

There are three pillars of Sustainable Development and Society that is economy, society and environment. Education for sustainable development is essential as it has a significant role in moulding the behaviour of students and other stakeholders the economy. Society, Economy and Environment are interdependent factors which may create a sustainable society or may not. In this direction to get positive impact of these 3 pillars of society on which development rest, it is essential that from primary level to higher education level education should be able to create those skills and behaviour which are required for sustainable society. Here the teachers students, economist and environmentalists, sociologist all have to work together for sustainable society. In this paper we will try to study the role of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Sustainable development. We will also learn what pedagogical approach is to be adopted for ESD and its limitations.
