Role of Socio-Economic Factors in Determining Satisfaction Level among Industrial Workers: An Empirical Study

ABSTRACT
Purpose: This study aims to find out how socio-economic factors impact the income and work satisfaction among industrial workers.
Design/methodology/approach: The study is based on Primary data with sample size 400 combining two Private Sector Enterprises. The present study used statistical method chi-square test and econometric model Logit & Probit model for the analysis of collected data.
Findings: The findings of the study are that there is no statistical significant difference of income satisfaction as well as work satisfaction between skilled workers and unskilled workers in the industry. Whereas income is the only determinant of both work and income satisfaction in case of skilled workers, while on the other hand in case of unskilled workers caste, income, place of origin both state and district wise are found to be the determinants of work satisfaction where as age, caste, income and place of origin state wise are the determinants of income satisfaction.
Originality: The study is based on the problems of industrial workers in the Jharsuguda district of Odisha which has been the hub of industrialization in eastern region of India for which the author has taken two Private sector enterprises and collected primary data himself with the support of his scholars. The views and analysis embodied in this paper is completely the original work of the authors. The findings of the study are exclusively confined to the problems of industrial workers of the concern district and state in particular and no generalization can be made.
