Effect of Yoga on Depression, Emotions of Females With Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder

ABSTRACT

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), is menstrual disorder which is added in DSM-5. PMDD severely effect on female’s physiological health, mental health, emotional health, social relationships and all over day-to-day life. Quality of life will be decreases because of symptom (headache, vomiting, abdominal pain, backbone pain, breast tenderness, depression, anxiety, mood-swings, food craving, blood pressure etc.) occur during the menstrual cycle’s luteal phase. The general objective of the study is to examine the impact of yoga on depression and emotions of females with premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Study design was Pre-Test and Post-Test. Eighteen female respondents who had been diagnosed with premenstrual dysphoric disorder by a gynecologist were included in the sampling method. sixteen to twenty-five years old, from Delhi (NCR). Tools were used BDI-II - (Beck’s Depression Inventory-II) to measure the level of depression and PANAS - (Positive and negative Affect Schedule) to measure the level of emotions. Null Hypothesis is rejected. There was a significant impact of yoga on depression and emotions of females with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD). In results that yoga positively effects female’s health who have PMDD. Level of depression will decrease and positive emotions are increases and negative emotion will decrease while doing yoga postures regularly in your daily routine. Yoga helps females to manage PMDD.
