ABSTRACT

The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between the Islamic Work Ethics (IWE) and Job Performance (JP) with the moderated-mediation analysis of Public Service Motivation (PSM). Consistent with the Other Orientation Theory (OOT), the information was obtained from the federal and provincial officers of various groups of civil service of Pakistan using quantitative research technique and a cross-sectional design. A self-reported survey questionnaire with five-point Likert Scale was operated to collect the data from 275 respondents. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique was focused as econometric approach to estimate the regression coefficients. The findings stemmed out a significantly strong and positive relationship between IWE and JP. This research accentuated upon the implications of IWE as a substantial factor in enhancing the work performance of public sector employees. Additionally, this study depicted a significant role of PSM as mediator and moderator for employees’ performance. The study entails theoretical and practical implications with reference to the performance culture of Pakistan. Conclusively, this model reveals the black box of the mediation and moderation of PSM on JP. The study dispenses foundation for more comprehensive and comparative research studies as future implications.
