ABSTRACT

Within the confines of this particular piece of literature, the two selected plays, namely Thus Spoke Soorpankha So Said Shakuni and Inner Laws, are categorised together under the same heading. The legendary figures from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and the Bhagavatam are moved forward in time for the sake of these plays, which are staged during the era in question. The characters were not given the opportunity to have their voices heard or to carve out their own space in the annals of historys dominating discourses. Neither of these opportunities was afforded to them. The writer delivers reimagined accounts of real-life occurrences in the works that bear her name. She is seeking to rewrite history and give an alternate viewpoint utilising a feminist approach by providing a voice to the characters who have been objectified or silenced in the selected epics. This is part of her endeavour to rewrite history.
