ABSTRACT

It is crucial to train a large number of specialized talents who are proficient in English language in order to speed up the process of Chinas modernization and give graduates more or better employment opportunities in light of the continuous expansion of Chinas opening to the outside world, the continuous progress of science and technology, and the continuous improvement of international status. However, despite Chinese students best efforts, the results of their English learning fall far short. Todays English teachers often impart knowledge to their students, who then mostly learn words, sentences, and grammar. Because of this, the majority of students are unmotivated to study English, and there is no space for them to utilize their minds to observe, consider, and create their own meanings. In order to enhance the learning process in Jinan, this research proposed a learning model based on the Five-step learning model for learning English in Jinan, China. The experimental results showed that the students achieved better results using the proposed model. It is inferred from the results that employing the proposed model in the learning process enhances the student’s learning outcomes.
